What I Wore Wednesday

Yes, I'm wearing a scarf. It was a balmy 49 degrees when I left the house this morning. But, in usual California fashion, I had the windows rolled down on the drive home. Oh that sunshine feels so good! But that's not why I'm singing in this picture. I'm singing because the ladies of American Idol will be performing tonight....go get 'em girls! Who is your favorite?

The Boots are back: Payless
Jeans: Old Navy
Sweater: Target
Scarf: Gap (gift from "Rissa"- thank you!)

Part of our Wednesday routine is going to Grandma's house for lunch. Today while Katin and Grandma made ham and swiss sandwiches out of playdough, Aubrey found a nice seat with a view....and enjoyed soaking it all in for a bit. Happy Wednesday Everyone! Did you get dressed today?

parenthood- not just a show on tv

Ok. Is anyone else as sad and heartbroken as I am that Parenthood is coming to an end this season? I think it's hands down the best show ever created! I'm supercalifragilisticexpialidociously excited to watch the season finale next week, but that only means that it's over. Done. No more looking forward to nap time on Wednesdays when I watch my DVR'd Parenthood with a piece of chocolate. I'm not lying when I tell you that I cry....not just teary-eyed cries, but full on bawling at most of the episodes. Maybe it's the perfectly cast actors. Maybe it's the writing. Maybe it's the relationships that are so spot on I can see parts of my own family in it. Maybe it's just the fact that I LOVE my family so much and when I watch the show I think of them and long to be with them.

Like Thomas...he's the love of my life and it never gets old hanging out with him. He always has something new to talk about or think through.

Or Becky- My little Atlanta sister who is miles away but knows my heart like no one else.

Or my mommy- She exceeds all my expectations of what a mother should be....of a mother I would like to be.

Or my Dad- Who even though I live with I can never get enough hugs from.

Or my step parents- They should really be called "other" parents because "step" just sounds strange. They fully support and love everything I am and do.

Or my aunt Donna- Her contagious spirit leaves me with a smile every time I see her.

Or Heather- not just a sister....a friend....someone I can call at anytime of the day and she'll be there. To listen. To advise. To laugh.

Or my sister...I mean...cousin Jordan- She has a calmness about her that makes me take a deep breath and remember that life is good.

Or My very own daughters- The epitome of "My joy knows no bounds", Paul 2 Corinthians 7. Even a midst the trials and tears that come, they produce in me a joy that has no end.... A joy that is simply from Jesus who loves me and gave them each to me as a gift that I will cherish and enjoy forever!

And that's Parenthood.... A Joy that knows no bounds. A joy that we cry though. Laugh with. Lean on. Lose sleep over. Feel for....live for!

So each time my favorite show comes to an end...I'm thankful for two things:

1. DVR- So I don't have to stay up til 11pm.
2. My own Parenthood journey- the one that I get to share with my entire family.

Might be cheesy, but I seriously love that show and LOVE LOVE LOVE my family! Anyone else with me on this one?

What I Wore Wednesday

A little while ago I was inspired by this awesome gal via this blog to get out of my "uniform" and into something....hmmm....something pretty. It just isn't Kristen to get dressed every day. But once a week is going pretty well. Here's my very simple, didn't even go to the closet, outfit for today.

Top- Old Navy
Jeans- Old Navy
My new favorite shoes- TOMS
Necklace- Random store in Estes Park, CO
Ugly Watch- Target

As you can see, my photographer thought it would be really creative and fun to have me jump. It kinda worked. Love you mom :)

Happy Hump Day Ya'll! (shout out to Becky! And speaking in Becky...we ate green peas tonight in honor of you!)

Mommy's Major Mishap Monday

She's Wearing Big Girl Underwear!

That's right, readers! Katin is wearing big girl undies! When Thomas was away a couple of weeks ago, my mom came and took Katin for the afternoon so I could have some one on one time with Aubrey. (Thanks Mom!) When she brought her back she was wearing UNDERWEAR! Up to this point, she had been going poo poo in the toilet. And every so often she would go pee pee....but I really wasn't ready to commit to underwear yet. Even though she may have been ready....I was kinda silently dragging my feet a little. It's pretty easy not having to know where the closest bathroom is or what time she last went pee pee or not having to pack an extra pair of undies and pants. But lo and behold...she came back from Grandma's in underwear. It took a few days for me to say goodbye to the ease of diapers, but I did it! And when daddy came home, Katin pretty much forgot what a diaper was! He was so impressed! So since then we've been to the store to purchase more big girl undies and have done a few extra loads of laundry so we can have clean undies....cuz let's be honest...accidents happen.

And so begins my mishap Monday! We were at the park. The park without a bathroom. There are, however, many bushes that most kids use as a bathroom. Kinda gross, but we moms know what bushes to stay away from. Katin had a little bit to drink and was playing to her little hearts content when all of a sudden she sat down and gave me the look. The "I just peed my pants" look. I knew it! I knew I should have taken her to the bush right before that! Of course her pants got soaked and she even leaked through to the concrete she was sitting on next to the playground. I quickly took her away and changed her undies and pants saying, of course, that everything will be OK and not to be sad. And you know what...

We left. I left that little puddle of Katin pee on the concrete with the hopes of lots of sunshine to dry it up fast! It's like I didn't pick up after my dog, right?! So tacky. I'm sorry neighbors, but I just didn't have a hose on me.

What I Wore Wednesday

I love Wednesdays. For three very good reasons.

1. I get to go to Bible Study and learn more about the love of Jesus.
2. I get to see my (insert positive adjective here) mother. Examples could include wonderful, generous, loving, playful, silly, energetic, amazing....the list could go on and on.
3. I get to get dressed! Seriously, some of you may be thinking, "does she really only get dressed on Wednesdays?" Umm...ask my husband, or my friends, or my daughters. It's true folks, I really love my sweats/yoga pants/stretchy workout pants...and I'm not afraid to wear them out in public!

But, alas, this has been good for me. Getting dressed. It makes me USE the clothes I have and it's kinda fun trying to put outfits (if that's what you want to call them) together. I guess I just don't really miss waking up in the morning and staring into my closet wondering what I should wear to work. Cuz now my work clothes ARE my play clothes! Woot Woot!!

Sweater- Target
Flower Shirt- Charming Charlies (in Colorado- shout out to Heather!)
Jeans- Citizens
Shoes- Macy's

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

www.bragspot.com

I will just go ahead and use this area to brag about my kids, k?

Seriously, who wouldn't want to brag about this face:

Or this one:

Not only are they FREAKING ADORABLE, but they are so wonderful to be around and watch and play with and explore with and breathe with. Everyday is joy. (well, at least parts of everyday)

Like today.

The girls and I have been going "daddy-less" all week and today was the first day we headed out to Chick fil a. Those of you who know me well are probably surprised by this. You thought I'd be there every day. HA. I cook. Sometimes. OK, I pour and heat things up and spread stuff. And I'll be the first to admit that I cannot replicate the mouthwatering goodness of a chick fil a nugget. So...there we were.

Katin and her buddy had to eat their meals before playing in the play thingy. I don't even know what to call it because I don't even really like it! Talk about claustrophobia! And ear piercing loudness! (loudness...good word) But, alas, I had to let her because her buddy was going.

The shoes came off and she went running. Boy did she love that indoor play thingy! But about halfway through her galavanting she decided she would play better without her socks. Maybe she thought they were slowing her down with their slipperiness (another good word). Or maybe her feet started to sweat from all that running. Or maybe she was over the jingle that her cute socks made every time she took a step. Whatever the case, she took them off and the next thing I saw was a little Katin running around without socks. (Better than without pants)

But I immediately thought, uh oh...the cute jingly (and disgustingly dirty) socks are up there in that tunnel and I'm never going to get them down.

Oh no my friends. My little Katin is smart. Observant. Determined. Anal even. She knew right where those socks were supposed to go. (Mind you she's only been in that indoor play thingy once and it wasn't for long because mommy was going INSANE!) I went inside and asked her, "Katin, where are your socks?"

"There mommy." (pointing to the cubbies where all the shoes and socks were located)

I just smiled and thought...why did I even ask. Of course she would take off her socks and place them in a cubby. Duh, mom. That's where they go!

I know. I know. She's awesome. I can't get enough of her!!!

Or her sister!

Aubrey...sweet baby Aubrey... She just loves loves loves her sister. She loves sleeping in the same room as her. She loves rolling around with her. She loves pulling her sister's hair. She loves it when her sister feeds her. She loves laughing at her sister in the car. She loves it when her sister sings to her. She loves getting in the middle of everything her sister is doing.

And here's proof:

Aubrey just recently started pulling herself up onto furniture. And talk about a determined sister...this little one will get red-faced trying to pull herself up. And she won't stop till she's up.

But c'mon, how cute is this!? Katin sets up store and uses her little computer as the cash register. She scans every single one of her food items (my guess is about 1,000 or so) and places them in bins. This is actually one of my favorite games....cuz I DON'T HAVE TO PLAY! I'm pretty sure Katin is going to have her sister bagging groceries in no time.

They are so stinkin' cute. Daddy is missing some cuteness this week, that's for sure. But he'll be home soon. "Green Circle" soon. Ask Katin when he gets home and she'll tell you "green circle". (Mommy made a paper chain and the last one is green) Only two more to go!!! WOOHOO!!!!

OK, www.bragspot.com is over...for now....

What I Wore Wednesday

I'm back at it ya'll...back at getting dressed :) (On Wednesdays)

So, I have a pretty good photographer on Wednesdays. Today she wanted to make sure my shoes were in the shot, so she made me put my foot up on the table. I mean, she's creative. Why NOT do this instead of stepping back to get a full body shot?! My mom. Gotta love her.

Blouse- (with a french accent) Boutique Target
Jeans- Citizens of Humanity
The Shoes- Nordstrom Rack

And even though the view of my cute blouse and playdough covered table might be nice...I think this view is even nicer :)

Take it all in folks!

Until next Wednesday...happy sweats!!!
